‘National Sports Day Celebration’

The ‘National Sports Day’ was celebrated in the remembrance of legendary hockey player Major Dhyanchand.
This event focused on new dimensions and career opportunities by guests of honour, Mr Mritunjay Singh-RFSAC and Mr Om Bhosale – Captain of Maharashtra Ranji team. Students received information regarding career opportunities in the field of sports. Primary students shared the milestones of ‘Major Dhyanchand’.

‘Ganesh Chaturthi celebration (Pre-Primary)’

In Maharashtra, every session starts with ‘Ganesh Vandana’. In this virtual world, students celebrated ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ in a creative and eco-friendly manner. Children made idol of ‘Ganesha’ using green leaves, flowers, flour, drawing and very attractive different way of using the utensils used in daily life.
All students celebrated the ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ enthusiastically.

‘Role of plastic in pandemic situation’

This webinar on ‘Role of Plastic in Pandemic situation’ was held on 19th August. Mr Swapan Ray, ICPE secretary and Dr. Vijay Habbu, a prominent scientist from the elite Institute like the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) were speakers for the session.

This eminent scientist highlighted the characteristics of plastic, it’s uses for mankind and recycling methods. ‘Plastic’ is useful in the war against SARs. CoV2 and COVID-19 in the form of PPE kits, face masks, hand gloves, and other disposable medical products. Daily waste segregated in 3 colour bins, Green for bio-degradable waste, blue for plastic, and yellow for medical non-reusable waste.

All participants brought change in their perception about the use of plastic in this pandemic situation.

‘Career Day celebration’

‘Career Day’ was celebrated with a session on various career options for class X students on 19th August. Students explored their ideal career within a week. They collected information from many resources, about recent Career option and its required educational skills. Students prepared their write up on their selected profession and presented it with suitable costume and created a video on it.

Students acquainted themselves with innovative Career options in present era. The activity encouraged students to explore their interests and passions. Self-assessment helped students identify personal interests and helped identify potential Career options.

‘Virtual Independence Day’

’74th Independence Day’ was celebrated virtually due to current situation of pandemic. RFSLMM Pre-Primary students participated in ‘various activities’ with great spirit on this occasion.
On this event of ‘Independence Day’, teachers shared an inspirational video to students of ‘Freedom Fighters’. All the students enjoyed the video lot and took a lesson of ‘patriotism’. A craft activity on ‘Tri-color’ badge of ‘India’, conducted by teachers.

Students learned significance of the colors in ‘Tri-color’ with great excitement.

‘Virtual Janamashtami celebration’

Virtual Janamashtami programme was organised for UKG children. The students dressed up as Radha and Krishna, giving a traditional touch to the entire celebration. All Krishna and Radha drew ‘Matki and Basuri’ pictures.

Pre-primary ‘Master Chef’

Master Chef’ activity was conducted virtually for the toddlers of LKG. The teachers also explained them the significance of vegetables, salads, and juicy fruits enriched with vitamin C in the pandemic. The vocabulary skills of the children were enhanced with the usage of new words through this activity. LKG students prepared easy dishes without fire and spices.

‘Kargil Vijay Divas’

This day is observed in India as a moment of victory and sacrifice in the war fought against Pakistan on 26th July 1999. Secondary Class students celebrated this day virtually.

Students expressed their respect to ‘Indian Army’ by making posters, songs, shared videos and ‘Salute’ to the ‘Soldiers’ who sacrificed their life for the Nation. Students described the ‘Bravery in the war’ in their own words and conveyed the message of patriotism.

Virtual Singing Activity

Pre-primary section organized a virtual singing activity. All blooming birds of LKG and UKG enthusiastically participated. Tiny tots performed songs with action and props related to the songs. These tiny tots were looking ‘cute’ in ‘props’. Few parents played musical instruments like ‘Harmonium’, ‘Tabla’ with their wards. Songs were related to numerous themes of their surroundings.

‘Guru Purnima celebration’

‘Guru Purnima’ is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of ‘Ashadha’. It is also known as ‘Vyasa Purnima’ which marks the birthday of ‘Ved Vyasa’.
In the present pandemic situation students did not forget their ‘Teachers’ -‘Gurus’. The Secondary students expressed gratitude through varieties of activities. Students designed beautiful and innovative greeting cards, videos, PPTs and sung songs for ‘Teachers’ to express their respect.

World Population Day Celebration

The ‘World Population Day’ is observed on 11th July every year to raise awareness among people about the impact of a growing population and its issues. It also includes gender equality, the importance of family planning, poverty, maternal health, human rights, etc. Students of class XII Commerce celebrated the event ‘World Population Day’ virtually on MST platform.

Several students participated in this event. They created drawings and PPT presentation on this day. Also, a Quiz was organised on ‘Knowledge of mind’, ‘Intellect’, and ‘Joy’ for the students. The quiz was graced by the presence of Dr Suhas Sabnis, Vice Principal of the School.

Mahakavi Kalidas Din

The School celebrated its first day of ‘Aashaadh’ as ‘Mahakavi Kalidas Din’. Hindi teacher Mr. Manohar Thakur presented a descriptive PPT and PDF on ‘Mahakavi Kalidas’s’ life and literature. About 200 students from class V to X participated in this program on MST platform.
Students presented speeches and poems, of renowned poet ‘Kalidas’. All language teachers expressed their views on ‘Classics of Kalidas’.

‘Yoga’ strengthens and relaxes mind and body to achieve harmony and balance in life.
The School organized online ‘Yoga Day’ with family on the occasion of ‘International Yoga Day’ celebrated on 21st June 2020. The event was conducted live on MST platform. It was jointly led by Mr Laxman Chalmale and Mr Balaji Panchal, Physical Education Instructors of the School.
Children got an opportunity to know how ‘Yoga’ – ‘Asanas’, ‘Kriyas’ and ‘Pranayam’ help to unite the mind, body and soul. Students participated with their parents and made this live ‘Yoga Day’ activity in lockdown a success.

Father’s Day celebration

Students celebrated ‘Father’s Day’ on June 19, 2020. This day is to show the contribution of fathers to their own families and society. Students expressed their gratitude, love and appreciation for their father by cutting cakes and making cards. The students and their fathers went cycling, gardening and made favourite dishes expressing their love towards each other. They spent quality time with their loving ‘Paa’. It was a memorable event for both father and the child.

World Eye Donation Day

The School celebrated World Eye Donation Day through the digital platform on 10th June, 2020. Students from classes LKG to XII made drawings to help create awareness on how individuals could contribute their eyes to people in need. The students of class XII created a montage of videos portraying the difficulties faced by individuals with vision issues in carrying out daily chores by blindfolding themselves and trying to complete basic tasks such as feeding the pet, making use of switches, washing hands, typing on laptop etc.

World Meteorological Day

The School organised an online World Meteorological Day event for Class X students. The Geography teacher shared highlights of the day and the contribution that National Meteorological and Hydrological Services make for the safety and well-being of society. Also, students shared the importance of fresh water and the challenges faced by the world due to water stress, floods, drought, and lack of access to clean supplies. Students also bought attention to the urgent action needed for improving, monitoring and managing water supplies and how to tackle the problem.

Investiture Ceremony

On 7th August 2018, the Sports and House Teachers appointed House Captains from classes V to XII. On 9th August 2018, an election was held within the School premises for choosing the Head Boy, Head Girl and the Sports Captain of the School. Students from Classes V to XII were asked to vote for the candidates. The Investiture Ceremony was held on 29th August to formally appoint the Council Members.

Rakshabandhan

On the festive occasion of Rakshabandhan, the School invited all the gardeners along with Mr Madane, Head Gardener of Lodhivali RIL Township, to the Civic Centre. A total of 180 students and 9 teachers participated in the event. Mr Bharat Pardeshi and Dr Suhas Sabnis, Vice Principal of RFS Lodhivali welcomed the guests. . Mr Pardeshi explained the importance of gardening and gardeners. The celebration started with the song- Manasane Manasashi Maanasa Sam Vagane sung by students of class II. Class IV students (girls) tied rakhi to gardeners and in return received a plant from them as a token of appreciation. Mr Madane expressed his appreciation for the gesture and the event ended with a vote of thanks given by Ms Deshpande, Headmistress of RFS Lodhivali.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan began in School from 21st to 29th September 2018 with duties undertaken by the Primary section. All the students and staff members took a cleanliness oath every day. Primary section held a rally based on, ‘Clean Campus, Clean Colony’ in Lodhivali Township and School premises. They also performed a skit and delivered a speech on the importance of personal health, hygiene and cleanliness of surrounding areas. An interactive session by Paediatrician Dr Sunita Ingale was also organised on personal health and hygiene. The event ended with a colouring competition organised by the School for Primary section students.

Educational Picnic

The School organised a picnic to SP Water Park Pen, Khopoli for students of Jr KG to class VIII. The group reached the venue by 9:30 a.m., had breakfast and headed to various water rides. After lunch, a 5D movie show and magic show were organised for them. A visit to Parle Biscuits Company was also arranged to help understand the process of making biscuits and making candy by chiselling.

To commemorate the adoption of Constitution of India, Mr Sanjay Vazarekar, history teacher, explained the importance and formation of Indian Constitution to the students of classes VIII to XII. The meaning of the Preamble was also discussed in detail. The School organised an exhibition related to the Indian Constitution for the students.

On the occasion of Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary, the School celebrated Vaachan Prerana Din. Books were distributed amongst students of KG to class IV to inculcate love for reading. Educational Tour to Hyderabad

75 students and 5 teachers went on an educational tour to Hyderabad organised by Reliance Foundation School (MM) from 26th Nov to 30th Nov 2018. The itinerary included a visit to Birla temple, Golconda fort, Snow World (theme park), NTR garden where they also saw the light and music show. The theme of the show was India’s Unity in Diversity. It was a good educational experience for the students. The group also visited Charminar, Salarjung Museum, local zoo and Sudha Car Museum. The students learnt about different historical architecture and their stories, endangered animal and plant species, and about innovative car inventions.

Secondary Teachers’ Orientation Programme by MSCERT

An Orientation Programme for Secondary Teachers was held in the Civic Centre on 11th October 2018 by MSCERT (Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training). Nearly 500 English teachers from Karjat, Khalapur, Sudhagad Taluka participated in this one-day training that focused on creating awareness among teachers about using innovative teaching strategies with respect to Learning Outcomes. Other topics covered were- change in evaluation pattern,survey reports of PSM, ASER, NAS, SSC, revised syllabus, learning outcomes, criteria for setting an activity sheet etc.

Workshop on Speed Maths

A workshop on Speed Maths was conducted by Shri Sunil Sharma to reduce fear of the subject, on 23rd January from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The workshop began with the lighting of lamp by Shri Sunil Sharma, the Guest of Honour, Dr Suhas Sabnis - Vice Principal RFS Lodhivali (MM), Ms Anju Singh – Vice Principal RFS Lodhivali (EM), and Ms Kanchan Sorate – Coordinator RFS (MM).
The workshop started with a video presentation, followed by various mathematical games and puzzles to help students engage with the subject without fear.

Visit to State Legislative Assembly

44 Political Science students of class X went on an Educational trip on 30th November 2018 to understand the Indian Legislature, Legislative Council, Legislative Assembly, Indian Democracy and Election Process. This visit to the Legislative Assembly gave them a new perspective on the legislative proceedings as would be voters. They observed the State Legislative ministers pass important bills such as setting up a University in Raigad District and appeal for refunding students fee in draught hit regions.

Farewell for Class XII Students

A Farewell was organised for the students of Class XII on 31st January 2018 by Class XI students with the help of class teachers and CCA teachers. Students of Class XI anchored the function, they organised various games and songs and presented gifts and greeting cards to their seniors. Vice Principal and the teachers gave their blessings to the passing out batch and handed out the mementos to them.
